CIVICA Applied Data Science Seminar Series

Session 3 - Spring 2024

Session 3 - Spring 2024 will take place on Wednesday, 4:00 PM CET / 3:00 PM GMT 06 March 2023, on Zoom Meeting

About The Series

The CIVICA Data Science Seminar series is a unique multi-disciplinary series focused on applications and methodologies of data science for the social, political, and economic world.

Session 3 Spring 2024 Details

A defining task for humankind is to achieve mass coordination to tackle global challenges such as climate change, pandemics, and mass migrations.

Social science research has identified psycho-linguistic aspects of social interactions that can trigger spontaneous coordination when used strategically in the public debate. In this talk, Prof. Luca Maria Aiello will showcase the creation of Natural Language Processing tools that can capture these social dimensions from conversations, and found that they can explain and predict outcome of consensus and coordination. Furthermore, he will demonstrate that these dimensions can be used to prompt AI agents powered by Large Language Models to make them behave as persuasive social agents that could be seamlessly integrated in the public discourse of social media platforms.
